- Discover the Montblanc sports diver's watch with an 'icy' dial and an interchangeable and adjustable bracelet that narrows. When it came to imagining a new sports diver's watch, Montblanc climbed up to the glacial lakes of the Mont Blanc massif. Following the route up the Chamonix valley to the Sea of Ice glacier (Mer de Glace in French), the Maison's designers were captivated by the texture of the ice and its intricate structure of crystals frozen over thousands of years. The Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea with automatic date is available in three different dial colours - blue, green and black - representing different shades of glacial ice. Blue ice can be found in the Mont Blanc Iced Sea and is formed when there are air bubbles in it. Green ice is found in Antarctica and is the result of the presence of microscopic snow algae. Black ice appears when it contains no air bubbles, allowing it to absorb enough light to look black. It can also turn black due to deposits of volcanic ash in its structure, a phenomenon that can occur in polar regions. Each watch features a 3D engraving of an iceberg and a diver exploring its icy waters on the back. The engraving begins by structuring the metal with a laser to create a 3D image in relief, which adds depth and realism.
